The sounds of machines promising great rewards spiral within his ears. Gambling with his life, his potential lies inside of the result of his coin. He also wields a shoddy flintlock that feels like it could break at any moment, but it's one that he'll take to his death.
Chance's Description

Chance is a Sentinel Survivor, available for 777 Player Points. With his questionable weapon of choice, he takes his chance with every shot, both figuratively and literally.

Appearance

Chance appears as a light grey skinned Robloxian sporting a black fedora. He wears clockwork headphones and shades, as well as a suit and tie to match. He also has a black belt on.

Gameplay

Chance is a long-ranged sentinel reliant on the fragile concept of basic luck. With his questionable weapon choice, he can still be a valuable asset. Either thrive with good fortune or suffer in misfortune; luck decides your performance in every round and on every turn with the toss of a coin.

Unpredictable Fate
Passive Ability
"TAKE A CHANCE WITH CHAAAANCE BABY" - Chance
Chance's Max HP stat is set to be a random value of 70-90.

Chance's Favor
Cooldown: 0.5s
Keybind: Q
"I gambled with my LIFE" - ???

"did you win though" - Chance

Chance flips a coin.

If the coin lands on heads, gain a charge for all other abilities. If the coin lands on tails, gain a stack of Weakness for 15 seconds.

For every time the coin lands on tails, the level of Weakness that gets inflicted on you goes up by 1. The Weakness that gets inflicted has no cap.

Even if let's say you had Weakness IV and you wait 15 seconds for it to go away, upon landing on tails you'll receive Weakness V instead of I.

One Shot
Cooldown: 40s
Keybind: E
"You only have one shot." - Talking Cat
Chance pulls out an unreliable flintlock, and after a windup of 1s, pulls the trigger.
  • (25 - 15 - 5% chance) The flintlock explodes, dealing 45 damage to the user & disabling the ability indefinitely until it's repaired using Hat Fix.
  • (25 - 15 - 5% chance) The flintlock won't go off and will force the user to wait.
  • (50 - 70 - 90% chance) The flintlock fires, stunning any killer that gets shot at within 90 studs for 1-4 seconds. The shot linearly becomes less effective depending on how far away Chance is from the killer.

For every additional charge One Shot has, (i.e. having 2 or 3 charges) the chance of a successful shot increases by 20% and the chance of all other outcomes decrease by 10%. This ability starts off with 0 charges and has a cap of 3 charges. Using this ability removes the charges of all other abilities.

Reroll
Cooldown: 20s
Keybind: R
"Just one more go at it and I'll be a millionaire!" - A College Student in Debt
Chance rerolls the value of his Max Health.

Max Health becomes a value from 60 to 120. The health stat, after rerolled will increase by 3% for every charge this ability has. This ability starts off with 0 charges and has a cap of 3 charges (higher health change the more charges). Using this ability removes the charges of all other abilities. This doesn't heal if the current health is less than the max health.

Hat Fix
Cooldown: 60s
Keybind: T
"This hat demonstrates good taste and exudes class." - Roblox
Upon activating this ability, all Weakness stacks that were inflicted onto you through using Coin Flip are reverted back to Weakness I.

It will also remove any present Weakness debuffs.

This ability can only be used after reaching 3 charges for all other abilities.

Using this ability removes all charges on every ability & repairs Chance's gun ability if it blew up.

Lore

Notice: Chance's lore is being remade. This is an older version of his lore, if you want to read all of it and extra things, read it here.

Glamour. Prestige. Immense wealth. As a young robloxian, Chance had been conceived into a life of luxury, where his every need was met, and he had everything a young child could ever dream of. Born ambidextrous, his parents had considered it to be a sign that their child would grow to be a great successor to their fortune and estate.

He’d constantly get himself into dangerous situations, just to get the feel of adrenaline coursing through his veins, even if it caused him to be in serious trouble with his parents. He’d been reprimanded and scolded many times, and yet he never changed.

Once he was of legal age, he was soon played in his parent’s casino; the same one he once visited frequently as a child.

A group of users named Pheedy, are17, and ITrapped had set free Ellernate, Minish, and Dignity, which had started a huge manhunt for all the users involved. Except for ITrapped.

ITrapped wasn't suspected of being a part of the incident. Every media outlet was covering the incident live, which would include all of the users being shown to somehow disappear in front of everyone when they got cornered by law enforcement.

With all the chaos that had happened, everyone assumed the Darkheart had disappeared at the same time this incident occurred, but the sword had taken hold within ITrapped himself, which amplified his greed and malicious intent.

As 3 years passed, Chance stumbled upon ITrapped when he entered his parent's casino. After a quick round of Poker and a round of bloxy colas though, they quickly hit it off. Chance had no idea they had so much in common with them, how similar their tastes were. He thought he had made a great friend.

But the only reason ITrapped chose to approach Chance in the first place was because ITrapped had learned that the casino owner's son was a dealer working in the establishment. He wanted to get close enough with Chance to eventually be led to their estate, as it was rumored that their parents had the key to Banlands, as well as a key to a massive vault holding all of their wealth.

Chance always saw ITrapped as a close friend. Someone he could talk to about anything, anything at all. ITrapped saw them as nothing more than a pawn. Once he reached his goal, he’d make sure to end this so-called “friendship” immediately. But as three months went by, and their "friendship" was still going at it, he grew impatient, restless, wanting to get rid of Chance quickly and figure out the rest himself. Seeing an opportunity to “test his luck”, ITrapped talked Chance into several games of Russian roulette, in hopes that the gun would go off on them and he’d finally be rid of him. What he wasn’t expecting, however, was Chance’s luck making him always be the last person standing.

They would always smile throughout each click and gun blast, no matter how much it scared them, as he could only feel the exhilarating rush he got from each game. With shot after shot, Chance always won. It irritated him.

ITrapped quickly got fed up, and after another game of Russian roulette with Chance surviving, the two exited the building, with Chance having a big smile from the wins he’d accumulated over time. Right when he was about to boast, ITrapped stopped him.

The two disappeared that night, with Chance's last memory seeing the darkheart manifesting into ITrapped's hand before rushing forward.

Next thing he knew, he awoke in someplace different.

Strategy

Chance is the most vulnerable Sentinel, suffering from requiring luck. However, their stun is better than other Sentinels, being able to work at long range, making it less punishing. Despite this, they can heavily damage themselves or die if their health is too low or if the Weakness stack is too high. Chance performs significantly better if the user plays passively.

Tips

  • If you're new with Chance, it's usually better to hide in an unpopular spot while flipping your coin, since you're incredibly vulnerable doing this.
    • As you get better and better, you must get comfortable doing flips in risky situations so you can help your team immediately.
  • While Chance needs some startup to get his main ability, you should NOT be afraid of being aggressive with it since Chance is meant to be played like that.
  • It's best to use One Shot at 3 charges, since you get the best odds.
    • Reroll IS affected by charges, but only for a TRACE AMOUNT but its better to use it as soon as you get your first stack, then while waiting for the Reroll cooldown, start going to three charges
  • Keep using Reroll until your stats are adequate, to ensure that you're going to survive if you get chased.
    • Aim for at least 100, however, if you're unlucky then 90+ should be fine.
  • Try your best to protect other survivors with your One Shot ability.
  • Take extra precautions by using Hat Fix when you have a high amount of Weakness stacks. (Weakness 10+ is recommended for this)
    • It's recommended to use Hat Fix after a successful stun/when the killer is not going after you, since you will most likely have enough time to get your stacks back as One Shot refreshes.
    • If you have good stats after rerolling a few times but with a lot of weakness stacks early-game, it's best to Hat Fix so you don't get too much weakness flipping your coin for One Shot.
  • It is not recommended to use One Shot if you have a high Weakness level applied. If the gun explodes, you will take a severe amount of damage and potentially die as a result.
    • To be specific, any Weakness X or above can kill you when using One Shot, no matter how much health you have. And obviously any weakness will increase the high 45 damage (Weakness I = 54, Weakness II = 63, Weakness III = 72, Weakness IV = 81, Weakness V = 90, Weakness VI = 99, Weakness VII = 108, Weakness VIII = 117, Weakness IX = 126, Weakness X = 135)
      • If your cooldown is almost up, and/or your weakness is nearly gone, it is best to lurk near a chase until you can attempt to use One Shot. But stay cautious in case the killer notices you and attempts to hit you with an unexpected attack.
  • It is not recommended to shoot from high distances since you're more likely to miss the shot. Go for medium distance instead because he is meant to be a Sniper role. Remember to be alert and exploit killer abilities that keep them still in place (such as c00lkidd's Walkspeed Override, John Doe's Corrupt Energy (can be cancelled) and Digital Footprint, and 1x1x1x1's Mass Infection (you WILL still get hit if aiming at you).
    • If you feel brave enough, you can walk towards the killer while not focused on you and use One Shot as close as possible so the stun is as long as it can be, giving your team extra time.
      • Note that this is not advised against John Doe, as his Unstoppable ability caps his stun time at around 2 seconds and causes him to gain Speed I for a few seconds, making it easier for him to catch up to you.
  • Your shot cannot go through walls, though, so try your best to aim in an open space.
  • If you're on PC, it is recommended to go in first person or using shift lock when using One Shot as it is easier to know where you're aiming at.
  • When you're aiming, try to aim at a killer when they are running directly toward you or when they are not looking before shooting. What happens as a result is based on probability/luck. Your shot is also easy to dodge, so be careful.
  • If you are against Jason, he will likely try to predict when you will use your One Shot ability and counteract it with Raging Pace. However, this can be used against him by facing towards him as if you are about to shoot, though not actually doing so. This will likely bait out his Raging Pace ability and give you a chance to stun him once it runs out.
  • It's not recommended to use One Shot on summoned entities (such as c00lkidd's Pizza Bots or 1x's Zombies) since you can just outrun them very easily.
  • It is highly ill-advised to use Chance's Favor during a chase. It risks weakness stacks, and it is more than likely that One Shot is still on cooldown.
    • In the situation you got into a chase with Weakness, check the distance between you and the killer. If you are not at 3 stacks and the situation is critical, it's better to keep using Chance's Favor until you can use Hat Fix.
    • If you are under 20 HP, then it is in your best interest to continue using Chance's Favor as most landed attacks will kill you instantly.
      • If you have a good distance from the killer, save up 3 charges and use One Shot to gain distance or regain stamina.
        • It is not recommended to use this against John Doe, due to his reduced stun time.
  • After successfully stunning a killer, walk towards the opposite direction to where the killer is to regenerate stamina, and only start running when your stamina is full or the killer has recovered.
  • After Weakness V, any attack from any killer is able to put you into critical state, remember each stack is a 20% increased damage you are giving to the killer, don't sleep on it.
  • The gun actually has more than 1 hitbox. If you move your camera around a lot while using the gun, you can see that it will have more hitboxes.
  • Chance can actually shoot THROUGH entities, so when, for example, when c00lkidd is summoning clones, you can shoot the killer from the side to both kill the clones AND stun the killer, making One Shot devastating.

How To Counter

Chance is an easy target during early game, due to having lower health than normal and the Chance has likely used coin flip, meaning they probably have weakness.

Getting stunned by him can be quite unexpected due to his long range distance and lack of sound cue, but it will be less effective the further he is away from you so they will usually only stun you for 1-2 seconds(unless you're chasing them directly).

If you ever see a Chance turn and start aiming at you, making sure to move either left or right as his hitbox is long but thin, and he his likely to miss the shot and you get a free hit on him. If you're Jason however, you can use Raging Pace to deny said stun, though you have to react quick.

If you are chasing Chance, amateur Chance players will attempt to use Chance's Favor as they are being chased, if you ever see this and have good headphones/good audio, you can listen for whether or not they flipped heads or tails. This gives you a cue on when to attack them. More often than not, they will already have a good stack of weakness and a melee can take half their health.

Chance can be an extremely easy target or a dangerously powerful sentinel based on luck, always assume the latter.

Trivia

  • As of the Taph Update, Chance is the only character to not have a specific difficulty rating.
  • Chance was added during the last testing phase.
  • When Chance was first added he was able to reroll his stamina along with his health (both independent from each other)
    • Chance would roll a random number between 80 and 109, either giving him the lowest stamina in the game or allowing him to almost have the same stamina as the killers (110).
    • The ability to roll stamina was removed during the chance rework on 1/19/25 and is currently fixed at 100.
  • Chance, along with Azure, Two Time, Phosphorus, The Bomber, Taph, Veeronica, Cerulean, The Ringmaster and Rook are Roblox OCs.
  • Chance is the most unique Survivor in the game.
    • He has the most abilities for a Survivor, with a passive and 4 abilities.
    • He is also the only survivor with the ability to change his max HP, albeit with luck.
  • Chance technically simultaneously has the highest and lowest HP due to his Reroll and passive.
  • Chance is nonbinary, going by he/they pronouns.[1]
  • Chance description is based off of the meme "99% of gamblers quit before they win it big". This is referenced across the game multiple times, varying from achievements to dialogue.
  • Chance owes Bluudud a donation, as said in one of the voicelines of Bluudud.
    • This is reference to how Bluudud may be a streamer.
  • Chance has the most number of specific badges in the game.
  • Chance is the most expensive survivor in the game so far, costing 777$.
    • 777 is the number usually referred to a jackpot. It's also referenced in his difficulty.
  • Chance is "cool, calm, sometimes smug" and "lowkey a chill guy." He is also a smooth-talker who "often doesn't take things too seriously."[1]
  • Chance thinks the rounds are just taking risks and sees it as a challenge, like gambling.[1]
  • Chance is "buddies" with iTrapped.[1]
  • Chance is one of the wealthiest survivors in the game.[1]
  • Chance has little to no experience in shooting outside of Russian Roulette.[1]
  • Chance has dabbled in gambling before.[1]
  • Chance almost always wears glasses "for some reason."[1]
  • Chance owns a lot of Roblox limited items, although most of them are fedoras.[1]
  • Chance's HP Reroll's sound effect comes from Library of Ruina's "snap" sound effect.
  • Chance had the highest single hit damage from a survivor, dealing 50 damage upon a successful shot.
    • Before that, he was able to deal 60 damage upon a successful shot, but this video got the damage nerfed.
    • Currently, his damage is both tied and surpassed by Two Time.
      • Chance's gun, ironically, is far more reliable than Two Time's back stab, given you are a good shot. The flintlock at 3 charges has a 90% chance to fire, and is far less likely to be punished if missed. The backstab is also remarkably harder to land.
  • Chance is the first character to get an official announcement about merch.
  • Chance is ambidextrous.[3]
  • Chance likes bunnies. [4]
    • Chance owns a bunny with black fur. [5]
      • The bunny's name is Spade. [6]
        • The name Spade is most likely a reference to the card, often used in many casino games.
      • The bunny is a continental giant.[7]
  • Chance owns a casino he also gambles in.[8][1]
    • Because of this, Chance is good at detecting fraudulent casinos. Notably, his own casino is quite fair as well, shockingly enough.[9]
  • Chance loads the gun with extra gunpowder because he finds it fun.[10]
    • This is probably why his gun can explode upon a bad roll. [11]
  • Chance plays the piano, and does so in spare time when he isn't gambling or being lazy and unproductive.[12]
    • Chance can play one song with his eyes closed. It's "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."[13]
  • Chance smiles during rounds because he has a poker face.[14]
  • Chance takes his sunglasses off exclusively in the comfort of his home.
  • His personality type is ENFP (Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Prospecting).[15]
  • Chance likes everyone, but Two Time does spook him a tad bit.
  • Chance canonically has a big crush on Azure because of their limited.
    • This has been retconned. Chance is just interested in the unique limited Azure uses.[16]
  • If someone using Chance uses the "Miss The Quiet" Emote, then Chance's fedora will be on top of the fedora you get from the emote.
  • The "Talking Cat" in the description of One Shot may be a reference to Niko from the puzzle game OneShot, originally made for a GameJam.
  • The quote on Chance's Favor may be a reference to Jujutsu Kaisen, specifically Hakari, a character who has abilities greatly inspired by gambling.
  • He is the escapee found in Classic Canyon, the collaboration map between Flood Escape 2 and Forsaken.
  • Chance's height depends on how lucky he is each day, ranging from 4' to 6'.[17]
  • Chance is the first (and currently only) character in Forsaken to receive a plushie and merchandise.
    • Please note you must be 18+ or have permission from a legal adult to purchase his plushie.
  • Chance would have never been written to be a gold-digging gambler. He would have been greedy somewhat.
  • Chance’s parents would be helicopter parents so he wouldn’t really pay attention to anything they would tell him about how to run the casino. So when he got the casino he didn’t know how to run it well so he would laze around or be unproductive. (like gambling at his own casino)
    • Chance’s parents would always monitor and judge every little thing Chance did. They did it out of love but to Chance, he felt trapped and would often find himself in the wrong crowd which led him to dangerous situations that always ended with him getting sent back to his parents' house with no repercussions.
